Use the doctor results portal
Give a verified referring doctor time-limited access to released referrals and document critical-result follow-up.
Prepare doctor access
An authorized laboratory user opens Patients > Doctors and creates or edits the referring doctor. Portal access is optional: a doctor can remain available for referral selection without receiving sign-in credentials. When access is needed, enter a unique portal password, set a future access-expiry date, and enable Verified for portal access only after confirming the doctor's identity and delivering the credentials securely.
The doctor cannot sign in when verification is disabled, the password is missing, or the access date has expired. To restore access, laboratory staff must verify the identity again, set a new password when needed, and choose a new future expiry.
Sign in
Open /doctor/login on the laboratory domain and enter the registered doctor email and password. Doctor portal credentials are separate from staff accounts and patient OTP access.
The portal shows only orders referred to that exact doctor within the same laboratory company. It does not expose another doctor's patients or another company's records, even when someone guesses a direct link.
Review referred results
Open Referrals to review referred orders with released results. Draft, entered, approved-but-not-released, rejected, and cancelled-result work is not disclosed through the portal.
The doctor portal follows its selected interface language for navigation, headings, actions, statuses, notifications, validation, help text, and dates; Arabic uses a right-to-left layout. Laboratory test names remain canonical English in small left-to-right islands. Scientific values and reference intervals keep their left-to-right order where needed, while the standalone released-result PDF remains an English left-to-right document.
Acknowledge a critical result
Open Critical Results. A row appears only when the laboratory has released a Critical Low or Critical High value for one of the doctor's referred patients.
Select Acknowledge, choose how the result was communicated, and write a clinical follow-up note. State who received the value, what was communicated, and the next clinical action. Submitting the form records the doctor, time, result revision, communication method, follow-up note, order, patient, and test in the audit trail.
Acknowledgment does not change the laboratory result or replace the laboratory's escalation policy. If the laboratory amends the value, the revised result is treated as a new clinical communication and requires a new acknowledgment. A repeated submission for the same unchanged revision does not create a duplicate record.
If expected data is missing
Confirm that the order is assigned to the signed-in referring doctor, the result is released, and the doctor's portal access is still verified and unexpired. Only released critical values appear in Critical Results; other released values remain available under the referred order.
Contact the laboratory rather than sharing credentials. Laboratory staff can correct the referral assignment or access expiry, but they cannot acknowledge a result on behalf of the referring doctor through the doctor portal.
