Connect your own domain

Open your website, patient portal and lab panel from your own domain name, for example mylab.com.

What you get

Connect one domain your lab owns, and Kashef can give you up to three addresses. You choose which ones to use:

Address Opens
mylab.com (and www.mylab.com) Your public website.
portal.mylab.com The patient portal, where patients sign in to see results and book visits.
lab.mylab.com The lab panel. The sign-in page shows your logo and colours, and only your own staff can sign in.

Already have your own website? Keep it on mylab.com and connect only the portal and the lab panel. Website links in the portal then open your Kashef website address.

Once your website or portal address is connected, that part opens only there. Visitors who use your Kashef address, or a link that leads to it, are taken to your own address automatically. The lab panel stays open on both addresses. New result links sent by SMS or WhatsApp use your portal address, and links you sent before still open.

Custom domains are part of the Enterprise plan. If you do not see the page, ask the lab owner to upgrade from Subscription.

Before you start

  • Buy a domain from any domain provider (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, Hostinger and others) if you do not have one yet.
  • Save your website settings once in Website > Website Settings. The lab panel address works without it, but the website and portal need it.
  • Make sure you can sign in to the domain provider, because you will add a few DNS records there.

Connect the domain

  1. Go to Admin > Organization > Lab Settings > Custom Domain.
  2. Type your domain without www, for example mylab.com.
  3. Under Addresses to connect, keep the addresses you want. All three are on by default. Turn off Lab website if mylab.com should keep showing your own website.
  4. Select Connect domain.
  5. A table of DNS records appears. Each row has a Type, a Name / Host and a Value / Points to. Use the copy button next to each value.
  6. Sign in to your domain provider and add every record exactly as shown. Open Where to add the records for step-by-step guides for GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, Squarespace (Google Domains), Hostinger and Amazon Route 53. Pick your provider to see where to click.
  7. Come back and select Check again, or simply wait. Kashef checks your records automatically every few minutes.

When your addresses show Connected, they are live. The security certificate (https) is added for you.

Tips for the DNS records

  • @ means the domain itself. If your provider does not accept @, leave the name empty or type your domain name.
  • If a record with the same name and type already exists (for example from an old website or a "parked" page), edit it or delete it so only the new value remains.
  • On Cloudflare, turn the proxy off for these records (grey cloud, "DNS only"). An orange cloud stops the domain from connecting.
  • Do not change MX or other email records. Your email keeps working.
  • Most domains connect within 15 minutes. Some providers take up to 24 hours.

Staff sign-in on lab.mylab.com

  • Your team signs in with the same email and password they already use.
  • Only users who belong to your lab can sign in there. Anyone else sees a "credentials do not match" message.
  • Your team can still sign in on the Kashef address at any time, for example if lab.mylab.com is not working.
  • Patients never use this address. Send them to portal.mylab.com.

Turn an address on or off

After connecting, each address has its own card. Select Turn on to add an address later, then add its new DNS records. Select Turn off to stop an address: that part keeps working on your Kashef address, and you can point the name to anything else at your provider.

Change or remove the domain

Select Remove domain on the same page to turn off every address at once. Your website, portal and lab panel stop opening from that domain straight away and stay available on your Kashef addresses. You can then connect a different domain. Remember to delete the old DNS records at your provider if you no longer need them.

Troubleshooting

  • Still "Waiting for DNS" after a day: compare each record with the table letter by letter, check there are no older records with the same name, and make sure you edited the DNS at the company that manages your domain's name servers.
  • "Needs attention": a record could not be verified. Fix the records, then select Check again.
  • "This domain is already connected to another lab": the domain is in use on another Kashef account. Contact support if it belongs to you.
